The appetizing smell of fresh fried onions brought in a steady stream of people to the BBQ for Rock the Locks 2017 in Buckhorn. You could enjoy sausage on a bun, jumbo hot dogs, hamburgers or cheeseburgers if you managed to drop by before they were all sold-out. And if you checked out Kim Letto’s Century 21 Real Estate office, you could get a free hot dog on her. To quench your thirst, there was a wide selection of pop, iced green tea and water too.
It all began around 10:30 am. Of all the BBQ fare by 3:30 pm, there were only a couple hot dogs left. They got snapped up by some last minute folks. There was lots to see and do at Rock Locks 2017: antique car exhibits, horse-drawn wagon rides, face-painting, crafts for kids, a petting zoo and lots of exhibits and vendors for moms and dads and for the adult crowd. There was a great group of musicians who played ‘oldie-goldies’ all through the time of the BBQ.
Thanks to Peggy and Donnie and Doris for cooking up a non-stop flow of BBQ favourites. Thanks also to Jim, Nick, and our own “motorcycle rider” Richard for set up plus to Nancy S, Eunice and Helen C for their great help during the day. Special thanks to Nick for managing the ticket sales throughout the entire day. We extend thanks and special appreciation to Kim Letto for her sponsorship support of the hot dog portion of this annual St Matthew – St Aidan BBQ event.
We hope you enjoyed the tasty food and that you had fun in Buckhorn at Rock the Locks.
Proceeds from the BBQ are used to support the outreach and ministry of St Matthew – St Aidan. Blessings and thanks to all.
