2016-11-19-christmas-tea-0011The hint of a change in the weather prompted members of the community to get in the spirit by heading to the Christmas Tea on 19 November at the parish hall. There was a wide selection of fancy sandwiches and delicious sweets to be enjoyed with choices of various teas plus hot apple cider. The parish hall was filled with people who were beginning their Advent and Christmas outings.

In addition to the fantastic lunch, the highlight of the afternoon was a workshop demonstration by Victoria Whitney from Griffins Greenhouses in Lakefield. Vikki showed how to make a wonderful outdoor Christmas decoration for porch, deck, or steps. She shared amazing information about what materials to use, tricks to make sure they survive the challenges of winter, and some how-to tips on arranging everything for a pleasing presentation. The slides tell the whole story.

Along with many door prizes given out during the afternoon, the potted Christmas decoration that Vicky completed was raffled off. And the very fortunate winner was Nick Sachitiello. An amazing prize to win!

Marion Watson did a fabulous job in organizing the great afternoon experience. Many thanks to her and to each person who who helped to make this event such a super success and a lot of fun! It was a great way to get into the spirit of the season as Advent draws near and the journey to Christmas begins.

Thanks to all who attended. By all reports, everyone had a great time. Blessings to all.
