In his letter dated 30 November to Eunice Blakeley, The Right Reverend Andrew Asbil, Bishop of Toronto, named Blakeley to the Order of the Diocese of Toronto (ODT). The Bishop explained that the ODT Medals will be bestowed in a virtual version of the New Year's Levée at 2 pm on 1 January 2021.

"It is my pleasure to inform you that you have been nominated by your parish of St Matthew - St Aidan, Buckhorn, endorsed by your Area Bishop, and approved by me to be a Member of the Order of the Diocese of Toronto," Bishop Andrew stated. "Congratulations!"

The purpose of the Order is to recognize and honour those members of the laity in the Diocese who have given outstanding service over a significant period of time in their volunteer ministry. We give thanks to God for the work and witness of those faithful lay persons in our Diocese who in the exercise of their baptismal ministry have demonstrated that “their light shines, their works glorify.”

My Aunt continues the work done by generations of women in our family. My great grand mother, my grand mother, my grand aunts, my mother and my aunt Eunice all work in the service of Christ. They were not great preachers but in their own way work to enrich the church and the body of Christ.
