Ceremony to bestow the
Order of the Diocese of Toronto
In his letter dated 30 November to Eunice Blakeley, The Right Reverend Andrew Asbil, Bishop of Toronto, named Blakeley to the Order of the Diocese of Toronto (ODT). The Bishop explained that the ODT Medals will be bestowed in a virtual version of the New Year's Levée at 2 pm on 1 January 2021.
"It is my pleasure to inform you that you have been nominated by your parish of St Matthew - St Aidan, Buckhorn, endorsed by your Area Bishop, and approved by me to be a Member of the Order of the Diocese of Toronto," Bishop Andrew stated. "Congratulations!"
The purpose of the Order is to recognize and honour those members of the laity in the Diocese who have given outstanding service over a significant period of time in their volunteer ministry. We give thanks to God for the work and witness of those faithful lay persons in our Diocese who in the exercise of their baptismal ministry have demonstrated that “their light shines, their works glorify.”

Eunice Blakeley has been nominated by the Parish of St Matthew-St Aidan for her example of discipleship and humility. Eunice exemplifies the teachings of Jesus Christ in her caring for others, in her dedication to the ministry of Christ’s Church, and in her building relationships within the community. She has provided critical leadership at important times in the life of the parish. Daily prayer and scripture reading always uphold Eunice in her journey of faith.

Congrats Eunice, you are most derserving of this honour, and it has been my privilege, to know you and Jim these few years. You both exemplify the very best in caring people. Enjoy this honour! And thank you Jim for being the kind of partner to encourage her.
Then I heard the voice of the Lord saying, “Whom shall I send? And who will go for us?” And I said, “Here am I. Send me!” Congratulations to one who said ‘Here am I.’

Congratulations to my beautiful and dedicated aunt.
My Aunt continues the work done by generations of women in our family. My great grand mother, my grand mother, my grand aunts, my mother and my aunt Eunice all work in the service of Christ. They were not great preachers but in their own way work to enrich the church and the body of Christ.
