Parish keeps focus on outreach mission

In spite of the restrictions brought about as precautions against COVID-19, the people of St Matthew - St Aidan are keeping focus on their outreach mission. It is a parish priority to allocate a very significant portion of the annual parish budget to care for the poor and those in need. In 2019, about 15% of the budget was contributed directly to support outreach in Buckhorn and beyond. This figure does not include additional 'in-kind' contributions to organizations in the local area.

The people of the parish make numerous 'in-kind' contributions such as purses filled with toiletries for women at Cameron House in Peterborough, support of various Hamper Projects in Trent Lakes, and contributions to the Trent Lakes Foodbank. The parish also supports the ministry and outreach of the Anglican Diocese of Toronto. When contributions to the Diocese are also taken into account, 25% of the annual parish budget is contributed to serve the needs of others.

In the spirit of giving thanks for blessings in our lives, as St Matthew - St Aidan observes Harvest Thanksgiving on Sunday, 11 October, the parish is collecting non-perishable food items and donations to support the Buckhorn / Trent Lakes Food Bank.

We welcome contributions from parishioners and from friends of the parish. For information on how to deliver your donation or food items, please contact one of our parish officers. You can also make arrangements for us to pick-up food items.

We are also making arrangements for virtual versions of some of the other parish events that are held each year. More details will be forthcoming during later October and November.

We see our outreach ministry to be a critical component of our parish mission. Thank you for your support and blessings to you.
