Popular Plant and Bake Sale Returns to Town

Great to be back at Plant & Bake Sale

Baking just like gramma's plus more perennials than ever

FINALLY EVER-POPULAR PLANT & BAKE SALE RETURNS

After over two years of pandemic restrictions, the church in town holds its Annual Plant & Bake Sale on Saturday 11 June. It was a great day with excellent weather for the morning event. Friends of the parish added to the inventory of perennials so that there were more choices than ever. Thank you so very much!

SO GREAT TO SEE OUR FRIENDS AND NEIGHBOURS

After two years of pandemic restrictions, St Matthew - St Aidan Anglican Church in Buckhorn returned to their annual tradition of the ever-popular Plant and Bake Sale at the church in town. The event had been sorely missed by local folks during the pandemic lock-downs and COVID restrictions.

This year, there were even more perennials available were provided from the various home gardens of parishioners and also by the generosity of community members. The normal inventory was supplemented by these additional donations from the community.

All the plants on sale were perennials that last from year to year in peoples’ gardens and they were snapped up by a steady flow of folks from Buckhorn and area. Given the enhanced supply of plants, the church people set up a self-serve area for after the event where people could make a selection by putting payment in a bucket provided.

As for the delicious home-baked goods, they vanished quickly. After the first half hour or so, the tables which had been loaded to capacity with every inch bearing a pie, loaf or tart, were almost bare. Within an hour, all of the baking had totally disappeared. Boaters from the Trent-Severn System, who arrived closer to 11 am were disappointed that they had not been able to come over earlier from the locks.

It was so great to return to in-person contact with the community. The 2022 Plant and Bake Sale was an even greater success than in previous years. The funds raised during this event, and from other similar parish events, enable the people of St Matthew - St Aidan to maintain their outreach and support for people in need through local and regional projects that serve others. Thank you to everyone for your support and generosity.

So sorry to have missed this successful event as I was still grieving over the loss of my dog Tigger. I did contribute to the sale however.
    Nice photographic coverage Glenn.
