Spring luncheon with special demo on spring plants
The parish hall was comfortably filled with friends and neighbours for a tasty lunch and home-made desserts. With the very late spring and odd fluctuations in the weather, Vikki Whitney, of Griffin's Greenhouses, shared very helpful tips on how to adjust for planters and gardens. Vikki shared a wealth of helpful knowledge and tricks for spring and summer planting.
With many hands to make for light work, the kitchen was a bee-hive of activity and efficiency in the preparations for individual servings of quiche, caesar salad and croissant rolls.
Those in attendance had the added treat of viewing selections of paintings by members of the Buckhorn Artists group. Several of the artists were in attendance to help the kitchen and serving crew.
While the people sampled the delectable desserts and enjoyed another cup of coffee or tea, Vikki prepared a spring planter arrangement. She carefully explained the proper way to create a beautiful spring planter and how to transition it for summer. One lucky person would win the planter in a ticket draw at the conclusion of the afternoon programme.
Special thanks to Marion who headed up this year's Spring Luncheon and programme. And sincere thanks to all the folks who assisted in preparations, set-up, cooking, serving, and the clean-up.
Marion explained, at the beginning of the afternoon, how events such as the Spring Luncheon enable the parish to support initiatives that assist those in need in the local community and beyond.
Thank you to all those who took time to attend the luncheon and programme today. We hope you enjoyed the afternoon and that you learned some special tricks to enhance your gardening experience.
And ...we extend our heart-felt thanks to Vikki and Griffin's Greenhouses of Lakefield!
