Bishop Riscylla visits parish
Bishop Riscylla visits St Matthew - St Aidan
On the Feast of the Reign of Christ, Bishop Riscylla presides at Eucharist and gives homily
On 25 November, The Right Reverend Riscylla Shaw made her first official Episcopal Visit to the Parish of St Matthew - St Aidan. Earlier in the year, she had joined the parish on Good Friday during her visit to the Peterborough area but this was her first official visit as Area Bishop for Trent-Durham.
This was the day of the Feast of the Reign of Christ which has been previously known as the Feast of Christ the King in older liturgical calendars. Bishop Riscylla was the Celebrant for the liturgy and she also gave the homily in which she spoke about Christ the King and Jesus' continuing presence in the world in and our lives of faith.
Following the Eucharist, the parish gathered with the Bishop for lunch which featured home-made lasagna made by Nick. He incorporated the famous meat sauce made by local Chef Doris. Bishop Riscylla considered it a true delight and arranged for a take-out for her family to enjoy at home. She added that she'd drive to Buckhorn any time to purchase some of Chef Doris's famous pasta sauce.
We extend our sincere thanks to Bishop Riscylla for taking time to be with us.
