It was another full-house for the Annual Country Chick 'n Rib Fest Dinner and Auction. This marked the tenth year that the parish of St Matthew - St Aidan has invited the local community to enjoy an evening of great food and fun time together in support of the Buckhorn School Breakfast Programme. 'Breakfast Betty' (aka Sue Swankie) provided update information about the programme at the school.

Local Chef Doris and Peggy Roberts prepared the finger-lickin' good ribs. Nancy Fairweather prepared the juicy chicken breasts. And Marylou Bowles prepared wonderful smoked, baked beans. All together it was a culinary delight.

While folks were gathering, local musicians, Brian, Angela and Bill, played an assortment of tunes on fiddle and guitar as well as some vocal numbers. Volunteers from the breakfast programme served the meal in timely, professional manner and did all the clean-up. This was an added treat fro the parish team since they could fully enjoy the evening by joining in with the guests. Many thanks!

Doug Pearson brought his usual fun antics to the loonie auction. He had a bit of tough crowd to work because it seemed the generous portions of food and apple-crumble desserts had people looking around for a comfortable couch. Or, perhaps, folks were tired out from voting in the federal election. Nonetheless, the evening was a complete success and it was evident people enjoyed the lovely meal and fun evening.

Sincere thanks to Doug for coming to lead our auction. We appreciate it very much. And we gratefully thank all those who contributed to the auction items. Their kindness tops off the evening with the fun of the auction and in the support it brings for the school breakfast programme. And again, thanks to the community volunteers for their hard work and to the parish team for their attentive preparations.
